The Vow Between Them is the forty-fifth and final chapter of the Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan manga.

Description[]

Kurono Shinguuji is shown standing outside of the Akatsuki Academy building, sensing Shizuku's new technique, Aoiro Rinne. She is impressed by Shizuku's feat, noting that both the brother and sister are both quite outrageous. Somewhere else, Nene Saikyo's Black Sword ・ Yatagarasu and Ouma Kurogane's Kusanagi are shown clashing. Nene is shown defending the Hagure Sisters and the unconscious Stella, who Ouma and the Akatsuki members are chasing. The Hagure Sisters are overjoyed by Nene's appearance, though Nene tries to calm them down. Amane Shinomiya suggests that they should negotiate about Nene handing over the Hagure Sisters and Stella. Nene, however, is only annoyed by Amane, activating her other Noble Art, Jibakujin, increasing the gravity around her ten times, causing the Akatsuki members, apart from Ouma, to fall to the ground. Ouma and Nene then prepare to clash again, but they are stopped by the arrival of Reisen Hiraga. Hiraga tells Akatsuki to withdraw, as fighting against Nene would be very dangerous and they have already made a serious enough impact. They then retreat, while Nene is left to wonder what kinds of trouble the Akatsuki will make.

It is later revealed publically that the current prime minister of Japan, Bakuga Tsukikage, is the sponsor of Akatsuki. He makes a public statement about Akatsuki, praising them as a showing of Japan's own strength, without the intervention of the League of Mage-Knight Nations. Due to the impact made by Akatsuki, the Steering Committee of the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival decides to allow them to enter, as not allowing them would make the League look weak and afraid for ignoring such strong candidates. Kurono is later shown talking with Ikki and Shizuku, explaining the situation to them. She also tells them that Akatsuki is an attempt to distance Japan from the League, as many find the League to be a hindrance for Japan. Even then, Kurono is surprised that Bakuga Tsukikage, who was a former Board Chairman of Hagun Academy and a person Kurono knew very well, would do something like this. Kurono then tells that due to Akatsuki entering, the other participants of the Festival have been allowed to withdraw. Of Team Hagun, the Hagure Sisters and Kanata Totokubara have already decided to withdraw, while Nagi Arisuin has also given up his spot in the team. Kurono is even willing to change her promise with Ikki about needing to win the Festival to graduate, but Ikki refuses her offer, wanting to participate no matter what. Stella has also still wishing to participate. Kurono then turns to Shizuku, offering her a spot in the team, due to many of their participants had withdrawn, with Shizuku agreeing to become a part of the representative team.

Stella and Ikki later meet, looking at the unconscious and hospitalized members of the student council. As they walk outside, Stella tells that she intends to go train with Nene, as she has to get stronger in order to face the powerful opponents like Ouma. Ikki and Stella then affirm their promise to face each other in the final of the Festival. The scene cuts to some time in the future, in the arena of the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival, that Ikki is entering. In the arena, his opponent is already waiting for him. His opponent is the third-year student of Bukyoku Academy, the current Seven Stars Sword King, Yuudai Moroboshi. They then manifest their Devices and prepare to face each other.
