Nangou Torajirou is known as the Flawless and God of War, as well as being a Legendary Blazer alongside his former rival and friend, Ryouma Kurogane. At one point, he became one of the three Desperados of Japan alongside his first disciple Nene Saikyo and his rival's great-grandson Ikki Kurogane.

Appearance[]

Nangou is an old man, with a largely bald head, with some white hair and black/gray eyes. After fighting multiple Abraham clones, half of his face got burned and lost one eye.

Personality[]

Nangou is a lighthearted person, who often isn't too serious. He is also very wise, as he has gained much knowledge during his long life.

History[]

Nangou is a war veteran, having fought in World War 2, much like his friend and rival, Ryouma and is as famed as the former. He received the nickname "Flawless" by remaining unscathed during the fierce battles of the southern front. He is also the master of Nene Saikyo, Touka Toudou, and Momiji Asagi, teaching them the Trackless Step.

At some point, he participated and won the God of War Tournament, earning his nickname. He is to this date the only Japanese winner. He also spectated the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival final between his own pupil Nene and Kurono Shinguuji and was the one to tell them about Desperados, along with Ryouma.

Nangou showed up to the fight between Ikki and Touka, spectating from the area where Kurono and Nene were. After the match, he commented on Ikki's intensity, having stated that Ikki looked like his old friend and rival Ryouma, during his match against Touka.

Training Camp and Scheme[]

Nangou is asked by the Kyomon Academy to act as the special coach for Ikki after the latter defeated all the previous coaches.

After the training camp is over, Nangou finds Kagami tied up in a cabin, where she was trapped by Nagi Arisuin. Nangou helps Kagami to get free, as she then quickly informs the Hagun Academy students of Nagi's betrayal.

Abilities[]

Desperado: Nangou is a desperado, a person whose broken the chains of fate, which had bound them. Being a desperado, Torajirou has greater magic power compared to that of an average Blazer, since he is able to increase it through training.

Sound Manipulation: His ability as a Blazer. Nangou is able to create and manipulate sound.

Master Swordsmanship: Nangou is an extremely skilled master swordsman, being a rival of Ryouma Kurogane for a long time, being the person who taught both Touka Toudou and Momiji Asagi swordsmanship.

  • Trackless Step (抜き足 Nukiashi): Nangou is a well-known user of the ancient martial art technique, which combines the user's breath control and footwork, letting him seep into the unconsciousness of his opponent thus making them difficult to perceive until it's too late for them to avoid. Nangou would later pass down this technique to his three disciples.
  • Kenkyoku · Tsurugi no Mai (兼曲·剣の舞, Sword Music · Dance of the Sword): Nangou's most boasted technique. It lets him endure the enemies' attacks until the threat passes by receiving the attacks infinitely with a soft defense and rotating their body as of dancing in order to repel the impact of the attacks. Nene calls it octopus-like dancing.

Device[]

Mateki (魔笛(まてき) Mateki, lit. "Magic Flute"): Nangou's Device, which takes form as a sword-cane.

  • Otogiri (音切(おとぎり) lit. "Sound Cut"): Nangou's signature technique where Touka derived her Raikiri, in which he is able to slash his opponents just by making them hear sounds from Mateki's blade.
  • Kotodama (言霊(ことだま) Kotodama, lit. "Spirit of Words"): A Noble Art, where Nangou cancels out his opponents' brain waves using sound waves thus blocking out commands from the brain to the body.

Trivia[]

  • Nangou is currently the oldest knight in Japan.
